MILNER MAKES BEST FREE TRANSFER LIST

Liverpool midfielder James Milner has been listed as one of the top five transfers in the history of football by former footballer and pundit Jan AageFjortoft.

Fjortoft talked about his best free transfer signing via his Twitter account. According to him, Liverpool vice captain James Milner is the third best all-time free transfer signing.

James Milner left Manchester City to join Premier League rivals Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer of 2015 and he has been an important player at the time of the most successful era at Anfield in decades.

Since moving to Liverpool six years ago, Milner scored 25 goals and provided 41 assists in 250 games for the Reds. He was part of the Liverpool team that ended the club’s long wait for a major trophy in 2019. James Milner and Liverpool defeated North London giants Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the 2019 Champions League final to end a seven-year trophy drought.

The last trophy before the win over Spurs in the Champions League final in 2019 was the 2011/12 League Cup title under club legend Kenny Dalglish also known as King Kenny.

Milner was also part of the Liverpool squad that ended the long wait for a Premier League title last season. It was the first league title for the Reds in three decades. German tactician JurgenKlopp was responsible for both the Champions League and the Premier League titles as he galvanised the Reds to win the two major trophies.

In addition to the Premier League andChampions League titles, James Milner also won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup trophies at Liverpool.

The other four players that made the list of the best five free transfer signing are Robert Lewandowski, Andrea Pirlo, Steve McManaman and Sergio Aguero.
