DELIGHTED

James Milner has said that he is delighted with his performance in England’s opening World Cup qualifying game against Moldova. England thrashed Moldova in that match by 5-0. Milner scored the fourth goal for England in the 74th minute of that encounter.

That was Milner’s first goal at the senior level. As per Milner, he was ecstatic after scoring that goal. Nothing can give more satisfaction than scoring a goal for your country. It felt great. But, it’s just the start and he would like to score some more goals in the upcoming matches.

Milner is very highly rated by the manager of the English team, Roy Hodgson. The midfielder has featured for England in every international match after the appointment of Roy Hodgson as the England manager in May. On being asked about that, Milner said that it’s wonderful that the manager has got so much trust in him. It always gives you a lot of confidence when you are backed by the manager. He is happy to have stood up to the expectations of Hodgson so far. But, it’s important to be consistent and keep doing well.

On being asked about his preferred position, Milner said that he wants to play as central midfielder more often than not. You get more opportunities to score goals when you play in that position. As per Milner, he used to play in Central midfield during his tenure at Aston Villa and he scored a number of goals for Villa playing as central midfielder. That was the reason why he was signed by Manchester City in 2010.

It’s unfortunate that he hasn’t got the opportunity to play in that position for City so far, but, he doesn’t think too much about that. His job is to give his best for the team and he tries to do that every time he goes onto the field.
