CITY WIN AT ARSENAL

Manchester City has defeated Arsenal in a Premier League match played at Emirates Stadium on Sunday. City won the match by 2-0. This was an emphatic performance by the Citizens.

In the first half, they were all over the Gunners. Arsenal played better in the second half, but, it failed in making up for the damage which was already done in the first half.

Earlier in the day, Manchester United had defeated Liverpool by 2-1. That victory had taken the Red Devils 10 points ahead of City. So, Manchester City was under pressure before this match and they needed to win this match to reduce that lead to 7 points again. The Citizens played well under pressure and pulled off a convincing victory to maintain their no. 2 status in the points table.

Arsenal was reduced to 10 men pretty early in the match. Laurent Koscielny was shown the red card in the 10th minute of the match. City took the advantage of that and got ahead by 1-0 in the 21st minute of the match. It was James Milner who opened the scoring for City. Tevez set up the goal and Miner blasted the ball past Szczesny to take the visitors ahead in the match.

City’s lead was doubled in the 32nd minute of the match with the goal of Edin Dzeko. All the hard work was done by James Milner and Carlos Tevez. Dzeko only had to tap the ball into an empty net which he did with ease.

City was also reduced to 10 men in the 75th minute of the match when its skipper Vincent Kompany was shown the red card. It was a controversial decision and many would have thought that the Belgian was a bit unlucky to be sent off. However, the City players didn’t let the Gunners take advantage of that. They played the remaining 15 minutes safely and secured yet another win.

Manchester City will play its next match against Fulham at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
