TOTTENHAM SET TO SIGN SESSEGNON AHEAD OF LIVERPOOL

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign teenage star Ryan Sessegnon.

Liverpool reportedly want five new stars this season as they get set to play in the Champions League aside local commitments.

Coach Jurgen Klopp wants the Fulham teenage star as a long term option in the left back role. He has played James Milner in that capacity this term as he lacked faith in Alberto Moreno – the only natural option.

The Times claim that 17-year old would likely head to Spurs even as more rumours trail a purported move of Danny Rose to Manchester City or Manchester United. Ben Davies took over for the injured Rose but the Englishman remains the main man for the role due to his blend of skills. If Rose leaves, Davies could take over while Sessegnon would deputize.

Also, with the move to Spurs, the teenager would be able to remain in London. He seems keen on playing under Coach Mauricio Pochettino as the manager has a thing for developing youngsters.

Liverpool have identified five players but they are taking a beating as they attempt to get them. They recently received a blow last week in their attempt to sign RB Leipzing star Naby Keita. Klopp is keen on making Liverpool’s second appearance in the Champions League in eight years count. The board are supporting him but it seems difficult to get the talent he wants within his budget frame.

There is still Hull’s Andrew Robertson after they were relegated to the Championship. Southampton’s Virgil van Dyke as Klopp wants to bolster the defence. There is another RB Leipzig star Timo Werner on the shortlist. Klopp says the club is ready to spend and that they have identified the talents but the issue would be on negotiations.
