MILNER RANKED AHEAD OF MARCELO AND DANI ALVES IN EUROPE

Liverpool defender James Milner has been ranked one of the best full back in Europe, according to CIES Football Observatory.

The Reds veteran is not just one of the best left back but full back in all of Europe – the elite football continent. The only player ranked ahead of Milner is Alex Sandro at Juventus.

Many would give credit to Reds manager Jurgen Klopp who remained resilient in not pushing club finances to get another left back despite being dissatisfied with Albert Moreno’s performances. Milner has been impressive in his role with time despite initial stumbles and is not ranked one of the best players in the role, with the stats in unison.

The versatile Englishman has done an amazing job in the position. He beats other top defenders like David Alaba, Felipe Luis, Danny Rose, Marcos Alonso, Faouzi Ghoulam and German legend Philipp Lahm, arranged in that order by CIES in its latest report.

Milner shares the same rating – 88 – with Austria international David Alaba. The Bayern Munich player is another impressive talent but both stars’ rating is superseded by Juve’ Sandro who has a rating of 89.

Milner started his professional football career as a right winger before moving to central midfield with time but is now one of the best left back stars in football, making a tremendous switch yet excelling.

The only other Premier League star in the top ten is Tottenham’s Rose. The diminutive Three Lions star has been impressive in the Maurico Pochettino set-up this term and in the whole of England. Manchester United’s Antonio Valencia placed 13th but has impressive rating score of 84 lying ahead of Middlesbrough’s George Friend in the Premier League aspect.

Milner sure deserves his time in the spotlight after all the work.
